Two-Way Task Sync Pipeline

Tasks lived in two systems and drifted apart daily — now both stay in step automatically, in both directions.

  • n8n
  • Google Sheets
  • REST
  • GraphQL
  • JavaScript

Someone opened both systems every morning, compared task lists line by line, and retyped whatever had changed since yesterday.

How it runs

Each node is one step in the live workflow, in the order it fires.

  1. 1

    Detect change

Polling and webhook triggers watch both systems for created, updated and completed tasks.

  2. 2

    Normalise

Custom JavaScript maps each side's fields, statuses and IDs onto one shared shape.

  3. 3

    Resolve conflicts

Timestamps decide which edit wins when both sides changed the same task since the last sync.

  4. 4

    Write back

REST and GraphQL calls push the resolved record into the opposite system.

  5. 5

    Log

Every sync writes an audit row to Google Sheets so drift is traceable after the fact.
